Calm Land Disasters (Open)

Cypher didn’t say anything at first about the Ronsos’ deaths. Honestly, it reminded him of the hopeless fight the Crusaders had against Sin. There had been so much death and despair during that year: It was without a doubt the darkest days Spira had gone through since the birth of Sin.
“They died with honor, which is what is important to a Ronso, protecting that which they firmly believed in. There is no higher way to die if you are going to go. It is, however, quite troublesome. There has been talk, nothing concrete yet, but talk that the Ronso are looking for revenge against the Guado. The Guado are the species that the Maester was part of. The Guado all stood behind their leader, and supported him to the end. However…well, now they were chased out of their home of Guadosalam. Last I saw, it looked like some sort of syndicate moved in. Things have been growing quite hectic here in Spira…you chose an interesting time to arrive Emerald.”
Cypher continued to walk as he paused once again when Emerald noted that she felt something following the pair. He sighed slightly and placed a hand on his blade.
“This might be what I was hunting…That Eater was not the reason I was in the area…what hurt the Eater to that degree is what I was hunting. If we are being hunted now, being on our guard is by far the least of our worries. I don’t know what it is though…” he said softly, feeling the wind shifting around the pair of them. His yellow eyes scanned the darkness, but he could see nothing at this point.
“Let’s keep moving…I’d rather know the creature is behind us for a fact, then stand in one spot where it can circle around,” he said, taking a few more steps to the North, his hand still on his blade as he keep his ears keen for anything.

Emerald listen to the story Cypher was telling about the Ronso and the Guado. Though Emerald had no idea but could kind feel they were like the some of the races she knew from her world and was laughing in the inside. She guess all worlds are like these fighting within their own races and problems. Emerald then nodded to Cypher as they kept moving through the night and got closer to the path that would lead to the mountain.

Then something shook that seemed like an earthquake. Emerald began to feel the dirt and ground below her begin to shake as rocks began to jump up and down on the ground. What ever that Cypher was hunting, it was obviously now wanting to fight or hungry for some food and that was in a bad way. Emerald began to start sprinting straight forward but fell to the ground as the earth exploded and something erupted from the ground. A giant thick huge worm appeared to open out of the ground and on the field of the calm lands. But this giant worm had tiny small legs across its body and its head was a giant mouth with sharp claws.


What in name is a sandworm here in this planet Emerald thought. She had heard about these things in her world traveling through the ground but how in athena's name did this foul beast get here. Indeed was this beast was hungry as it let out a nasty smelly growl at Emerald. Getting herself up quickly she slowly walked backwards with her sword in her right hand. "Found the monster your looking for but its not from this world. It's from Mine...but have no idea how it got here?" She shouted to Cypher.

Cypher felt the ground shaking and growled slightly as he followed behind Emerald, running for the pathway, only to stumble and fall. He quickly rolled back up to his feet, turning around and staring at the large creature.
‘Oh by the name of Yev-, what on Spira is that?’ he thought, interrupting his own thoughts as he quickly unsheathed his blade and bit down hard on his lower lip as he tamed himself, keeping himself in control. He took a deep breath as he stared at the creature, seeing its teeth, its claws, the length, the width…
Cypher had never seen anything like this creature before in his life, the closets that came to it was the Sand Wurm of the Desert. They were far from the Al Bhed homelands, and he didn’t recall those worms having teeth and claws. ‘Well, they both have big mouths…’ he thought to himself, before readying himself.
“Yes, it certainly does look like the creature I am hunting for…I didn’t know you wanted to bring a friend along Emerald,” he said, surprising even himself for the sarcastic remark and the smile that followed it. He focused his magic around his body, not releasing anything just yet, but preparing.
“So, since you know about this creature, what’s the best way of taking it down,” he asked, staring hard at the creature and on the balls of his feet, ready to dodge and move as the moment called for it.

Emerald jumped to the right of her to dodge an incoming attack coming from the sandworm. Its giant mouth went straight for emerald as it came crashing down onto the ground creating another hole in the ground. "Yes I always wanted to bring my friends along that want me for their early breakfast!" She spoke as she tried a few strikes with her sword but they only gave the monster a few scratches.

"This sandworm is weak to wind and fire. Has a nasty bite that can swallow you hole, can somehow transport you and the rest of your party to a dangerous place where a much dangerous creature lies. But don't worry hopefully we can kill it before it uses that move. If you start to see it glow then thats when we have the problem." She shouted over to Cypher. She was having a hard time landing a strike as it was being very fussy and not wanting to stay still. "Also its attacks are slow but can move quite fast and very aggressive!" She added as she dodged rolled another big slow strike from the giant worm.

"Take some of this!" She shouted as she lifted her left hand as her magic flowed through her veins and soon a red flame erupted from her hands. The wave of fire bursted onto the giant worms head and body as it was getting attacked with fire. It growled loudly and grew upset as it went for Cypher head on with a move faster attack as its huge head and body leaped in the air toward him just like a snake attacking its prey.

Cypher watched the creature work as it attacked Emerald, watching how she dodged and countered and how the worm tried to eat her. He tried to memorize the movements in the short amount of time, something he could commit to memory to help with avoiding the creatures attacks. He heard Emerald explain the weak points and what it could do to the pair of them.

“So, not exactly the friendly meeting with the parents...” he said, muttering the last part as he watched the creature get greeted by a blast of magical flames. It really seemed to hate the flames the burned against its flesh. Then, against all logic, instead of attacking the one that injured it, it set its sight on Cypher.

He stood at the ready as he watched the creature prepare and go in for the strike. He watched the jaws get closer and closer, before he ducked down low and rolled under the attack. He moved quickly, very quickly for a human as he was back up on his feet and went for a hard strike against one of its legs. Even though they were thin, they were strong enough to withstand his blade. He was forced to move again as the creature spun around and tried to get at him. He rolled again and focused the magic in his hand.

“Burn to ashes…Fire!” he yelled as the magical flame launched from his hand, striking the monster in the head. ‘Damn, I got the armor,’ Cypher growled before rolling backwards to avoid another strike that shook the earth, causing him to stumble and loose his footing. ‘Dammit, this just isn’t my day…’ he thought before turning around and seeing it glaring down at him with a drooling set of teeth. Cypher readied himself once again, though at this point, he would rather deal with the Eater again…

Emerald had felt a small haste within her body which was from her armor giving her enough speed for a few minutes. She sprinted over to the large worm and jumped onto its long back and stabbed her sword into its body. She used her strength to use the sword as it was already in the body and move it upward creating more damage. This of course caused much pain to the creature but made it even angrier. Emerald didn't know Cypher was down below about to be worm food, "Well ya wasn't a good idea since it eat my parents and now wants to eat you!" She shouted toward cypher giving a small chuckle. Grabbing her sword out of her body she jumped off the sandworms back and landed in front of Cypher. "This should give it a real good spanking. Lets go Chains!" She shouted as she raised her right index and middle finger to her mouth as she begins to focus on calling Chains. She began to glow and orbs of green, blue, and pink sprout around her. Emerald began to feel the magic within her drain as she was just about to be done summoning Chains. She threw her right hand to the right and out bursted a black tall three head dog but looked like a human with two arms and two legs from the orbs of light which were combined together. "Lets do it!" She spoke as she lunged her weapon at the sandworm and then twirling around to slice the worm once more and then for a final third combo she did in uppercut with her sword. From their she jump away from the giant sandworm and grabbed Cypher off the ground.

Chains's head growled as it sent its chains toward the sandworm, gripping and choking it to death as it lifted the sand worm off the ground and into the air. The chains began to glow light blue with fire. Chains jumped into the sky and shot out a medium blue size fire ball and soon it began to be absorbed into Chain's right arm. His right arm began to flare with blue fire as he smacked the sandworm with a full force punch. Chains didn't let go of the punch until both of them hit the ground. A loud sound was made as both the sandworm and chains hit the ground. The impact caused a giant whole in the ground like a meteor had hit. "Thanks!" She spoke as Chains bowed its three heads and vanished into away from the field.

That was not the end of the fight, as the giant worm shouted in pain and drew up slowly with fire burning through its tiny eyes. It began to glow yellow, as it was beginning to summon something. But it was beginning to transport itself and Emerald and cypher to a much dangerous place where a dangerous creature awaits them. "Okay this is where were in trouble. Cypher we have to finish it now or were both dead!" She shouted as she sprinted toward the sandworm and leaped with her sword and stabbed it in its face twisting the blade trying to give the sandworm much pain. She jumped off with her sword onto the ground, "Use as much fire at the spot I injured with my sword!" She shouted toward Cypher hoping that the sandworm would die from last attack.

This woman was crazy, laughing in the middle of a life or death battle about a joke that, under normal circumstances, wouldn’t have been funny at all. And Sin help him, he couldn’t help but chuckle slightly in the moment. That had to be it; it had been ages since he last fought with anyone…against them sure, but with them? Years, it had to have been back when he first sighed up with the crusaders with the squads.
“I’m not too sure I taste that great, it might find you more enjoyable though,” he countered back, before dashing to his right, away from the creature and avoiding another of its maddening bites. He dove and rolled, turning around and landing on his knee and foot, his blade held horizontally in front of him, his coat billowing out behind him.
He watched her stab the creature and run with the blade, watching the damage she was causing. He reversed his blade, holding it out behind him like a dagger, and right when he was about to dash in, he saw, he FELT the magic in the air. He felt as though the creature had just landed on him as he watched her summon.
‘What on Spira…’ he thought, watching in shock and awe as he watched her summon the three headed canine. Why was he in such shock? There weren’t supposed to be any summons left. After Lady Yuna had defeated Sin, she had said that he Aeons were gone, even other summoners could summon Ifrit or Shiva…yet, here he was, watching her summon, watching her Summon lift the creature and deal massive fire damage to the beast.
"By the way my name is Emerald Blackburn.....I'm not from this place."
Her words echoed in his head for a moment, before it really sunk in. ‘She really isn’t from this world…I don’t know why it didn’t register before, but the proof is here in front of me…’ he thought. He watched as she continued her attack on the creature, stabbing into its head and leaping back. Then he heard her call out to him.
‘That’s my cue,’ he thought, before black flames seemed to run over his arms and legs. He got to his feet and rushed forward, moving just as fast as before, but seemingly leaving small indents in the ground as his strength increased. (Enchantment Activated : Salamander’s Wyrmfire)
He continued to hold his blade in reverse style, before jumping up and plunging his blade into the creature’s side, hearing it cry out in pain. He then pulled himself up, using the momentum of the jump and placed a foot on the blade, jumping up higher, right over the creature’s head as it roared in pain, staring right up at him. His hands started to burn with bright red flames as he focused just about what he had left into his final attack, hoping this would work.
“Burn in the flames! Doublecast: Fire!” he cried, sending out two blasts of fire energy, being too close not to notice the gaping would that Emerald had left on the creature. Both blasts of energy hit home, both igniting and causing a slight backlash on Cypher. However, at least this time he wasn’t AS close, and was only pushed back while still in the air. As he hoped that he flames were eating away at the creature, he back-flipped and landed hard on his feet, sliding slightly and catching himself with one hand on the ground as he looked up at the burning creature.
‘Please, let this have worked,’ he thought, the black flames still burning on his arms and legs, the shadows coming off of his armor. He didn’t know it, but with his black coat billowing out behind him as well, he made for quite an intimidating figure. He didn’t care about any of that…but once again, he had left his blade in the creature he was fighting. He made a mental note that if he lived through this, he would try not to do that again.

Emerald watched as Cypher finish off the sandworm with some great damage. Just by the pain in the sandworm's scream Emerald could tell it was painful. Hoping this was it, she breathed and waited for the burnt smoke to rise. Seconds waiting the smoke cleared and then the Giant Sandworm stood tall as it screamed but then fell to the ground. Monsters from her home world seem to do a last attack or growl right before they die so she wasn't surprised but Cypher might of thought it was still alive. Emerald notice Cypher's blade was yet again stuck in the creatures body, she jogged over to the body and grabbed the sword and tossed it to Cypher. "There ya go. Once again you leave it in your enemies dead body." She spoke softly as took a deep breath and notice the sky was getting lighter by the second.

She notice the path to the mountains were now just ahead of her. As she began to walk closer she heard a fimilar sound but it wasn't in a good way. A large white tiger with light purple stripes around its body began to growl and circle Cypher. "CRYSTAL!!!!! Get over here. What did I tell you do to. Stay at the portal and wait for me to come back!" Emerald shouted at her pet and within seconds Crystal walked over to Emerald and gave a sad look to her, and within seconds Emerald couldn't be mad at her pet tiger. "You know when you give me that look...I can't be mad at you! Come here! Where were you earlier when I got attacked huh." She spoke softly to her pet and began to pet the head of Crystal. The tiger gave a small pur and shook its body and walked around Emerald. "Sorry about that. Crystal is way protective over me." She spoke over to Cypher to apologies.

Cypher was quite surprised as the smoke cleared and the creature roared again, causing him to put his guard back up, before he watched it fall to the ground. He waited for a few moments, before letting out a sigh as he took a deep breath. He was tired and sore; the fatigue of the past two battles as well as the journey to the Calm Lands was catching up with him hard. He gave Emerald a small smirk as he reached up and caught his blade, wincing slightly as he slowly started to stand up to his feet.
He looked at his blade and sighed slightly, before reaching into his coat and pulling out the rag, cleaning the blood off his blade before slowly sheathing it. He looked up and saw the light over the ridges of the mountains and saw just where they were.
“Hm, despite the creature, we did make it by sunrise,” he said with a small breath of relief. He closed his eyes for a moment and mentally checked off what he was feeling. He was drained of magic, he had released two very strong attacks within hours of each other, not to mention the strain the enchantment had on his body. He slowly released the enchantment, the black flames fading down and out, and with the sunlight, his armor stopped releasing the shadowy effect. He then heard a deep growl.
Slowly, he opened his eyes as he saw the massive white feline in front of him, circling around him. He found himself going straight into a battle stance before Emerald’s voice shook him out of his focus.
“Wait, Crystal? You…know this one? Why do all your friends constantly want to eat me?” he asked, sheathing his blade as he watched the interaction between mistress and pet, giving a faint smile that seemed to release a large amount of the tension he had on his body. “Protective…might be an understatement,” he said with a slight sigh.
“So, I imagine this has a bit of a story to it?” he asked as he found himself relaxing, really for the first time since they had met.

Emerald laughed at the comment about her friends always wanting to eat him. "Maybe its because your just tasteful!" She said with a smile as she walked up the path and finally out of the calm lands. Crystal walked to the side of Emerald making sure she was safe. "Yes this one does. I found it roaming outside of my city which was very rare to see a baby tiger roaming around close to a city. I found her with her mother. She was dying and so I feed the tiger and for some reason I just felt a connection with Crystal...and now that I think of it. All animals I seem to have a connection with in a way!" She spoke to respond to his question about the story between the tiger and herself.
