To Anger a Dinosaur (Open)

Balendin strolled out of the Eastgate of the Royal City of Rabanastre. Balendin had found the city a very interesting place, but he was more interested in exploring the surrounding deserts. From Balendin's experience, deserts were a great place to test one's skill. Besides the obvious danger a desert's environment provided, they also tended to be full of unique monsters. Balendin had been gathering information around the city and had found out that these deserts contained a fairly dangerous and powerful beast. The people called it a Saurian. It was apparently a large reptilian creature with a large, powerful maw filled with big, sharp teeth. It was said to have a grand tail and powerful hind legs. A worthy opponent by the sound of it. To hunt such a beast would be quite a task and Balendin was ready for the challenge.

As Balendin entered the Estersand he looked around. It looked much like any other desert; covered in sand with a hot sun beating down on it. There was a small cactus-like creature wandering about. It paid Balendin no mind and he paid it no mind also. As he strode through the desert, a wolf thought to test him. It was a quick engagement. It seemed that wolves where everywhere around here and Balendin put down three more before he finally found his true target. The Saurian seemed to live up to its reputation. It certainly seemed powerful and deadly as Balendin's sources had indicated.

Balendin watched the beast carefully from a hiding place. As the beast wandered around it eventually turned its back to him. Balendin moved immediately, launching himself into the air. His glaive appeared in his hand. Balendin landed on the monster's back and he went to slash at the back of its neck. Unfortunately, he did not get a chance for the Saurian shook itself as soon as it felt the weight on its back. Balendin went flying and smashed into a rock face nearby.

The creature came at him trying to bite him with its massive maw. Balendin rolled to the left causing the creature to miss. Balendin took off running as the monster chased after him.

Mystic strolled through the dusty desert of Dalmasca Estersand. He was here, well, he didn't have a reason this time. He just thought these deserts would have something fun to do. Recently he came across a family of Cluckatraces, who, when the boy grew closer, angered the birds. He managed to scare them off with a small brooze on his left arm. Mystic brushed off this intrusion and continued onwards.

Mystic eventually reached the section of the Estersand where the gate to Rabanastre was located, from his knowledge of the map he got from a friendly Moogle. He passed through, and heard thje roar of a fearsome beast. The boy quickly turned to spy a man challenging a dinosaur of some sort. Mystic looked at the scene, confused. Why would a man want to fight a dinosaur? But that didn't matter, he needed help, so Mystic pulled out his trusty staff and dashed into action.

Mystic started by trying to get close to the creature. That failed horribly, as the beast thrashed around after the man who started the fight. Mystic decided to chase after the dino, waiting for the greatest oppurtuniy.

Balendin ran forward; the Saurian hot on his heels. It seemed that that the beast was rather angry with him. It was not really surprising. Balendin would not have been very happy if someone jumped on his back out of nowhere. Balendin wondered if he should try jamming his glaive down the beast's throat. That tactic had been effective for Balendin in the past, but personally he did not want to get anywhere near that maw.

Balendin launched himself high in the air. The beast was unable to stop due to momentum and ended up running right under him. The monster would likely turn around quickly so Balendin prepared to slash at it as soon as he landed behind it. He figured he would try hit and run tactics for now and slowly wear the monster down with a series of minor wounds. Unfortunately the ground beneath him was occupied by what appeared to be a staff wielding youth. Unless the youth dodged out of the way immediately, Balendin would land on the youth which would not be very pleasant experience.

Mystic chased after the beast, as it was moving quite fast. He tried to get closer, but he got slammed by the tail, in which he got stuck on the dinosaur's tail for a bit. Mystic held on, a small bit terrified, but eventually he became unstuck and plopped to the ground. Mystic thoguht he could try and strike an attack now. As he stalked closer to the beast, he didn't seem to notice the man above him preparing to land on his spot. While trying to swing at the dinosaur, he was landed on, which wasn't feeling too well to the spirit-kid. Mystic moaned as the man was on his back, but he got back to his sarcastic self in no time. "Well, well, nice of you to drop in," Mystic said, still feeling the pain somewhat.
