Next statement: Gunblades suck. Why? They are guns and blades...that's cool. BUT, the Gun part is never used! It's official Gunblades...

I liked Lightning's one though. She used the gun part and it was kick @$$.

I thought the gun part on the other ones made them use an elemental attack on top of the regular attack.

Don't hold me to that^^ I never played the other ones.

I'll have you know that the gun part of a Gunblade IS used!!!

In Final Fantasy VIII, if you hit the R1 (I believe) button at the right time, just as Squall connects with his strike, then you get extra damage because he's also pulling the trigger on that blade. I got VERY good with timing that trigger squeeze.

And there's also the concept of a Blaygun.

I'm not sure there was one in Final Fantasy, but it fits the pattern of "Swords that go Bang."

REAL basic. A Gun and a Sword that share the same grip. The blade's in a reverse hold, to accomodate the gun, but, it's a rather badass permutation of the "Gunblade".

And, not only does it work as a Sword AND a Gun?

The two functions can be used SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Anyway, Pistol Swords, although an epic thought, hardly made a difference in warfare. The Trench Knife was more succesful, combining Brass Knuckles with a sharp stabbing knife.

It's possible bayonets could be forged in FFRPG, they even already exist in FF-X, just the knife part was never used...which makes me think Yevonite Monks suck in general, just as I think Gunblades in FF8 are worthless.

Exception are due in regard to Auron, of course

I have actually thought about using a bayonet for one of my charrys, but I thought it would be a double weapon and, therefore, illegal on a site like this. Unless of course you had duel wielding ability. But that takes too long to get XD

I've never gotten close, cause something always happens and I have to abandon everything to run off and fight the forces of evil XD

And to answer your question, Emblem, it takes 500 posts and permission from an admin to get dual-wielding. That is unless we changed that rule too.

*raises hand slightly*

However, a "dual use" weapon, like the aforementioned rifle with a bayonette attached, would not be using two weapons at once... unless you unattached the bayonette during battle and used the blade in one hand and the gun in the other.

If the bayonette were "permenently" attached until that dual-wielding level was reached, then there shouldn't be a problem.

At least, that's how I see it.
