My step-father, one of the better men I've known in my life, is rather quickly dying.

Those who have been around for a while know that I found out that he has esophageal cancer. He recently came down with pneumonia and now he's fading fast.

I'll be going to see him tomorrow. Family thinks he isn't going to make it to the weekend.

Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I think that is what my grandpa had. It was one of those big wordy type of cancers. Good luck and hope you get to spend time with him because I didn't get to with my grandpa. Praying for ya!

At approximately 11pm central standard time last night, my stepfather died before I had a chance to go see him.

Hubbybear and I got a call from my brother as we were getting ready to go to sleep.

This is rough as hell on me right now. He was a really good man who loved baseball and the Cleveland Indians especially. And he adored my mother. As many problems as I had with her, I can't fault him for it, though. He was one of those rare "good ones".

He sounds like my father-in-law who passed a few years ago. I still cry over him to this day, so I totally sympathize with your loss, sweetie.

*hugs* im sorry for your loss i know how that feeling is i lost my grandpa to cancer and i was really really close to him and i still cry thinking about it when the day rolls through. cancer is a very nasty thing and always seems to take the one that mean most to us away.

Grandfathers are a magical thing, are they not?

Telira, please take a few days to calm down. this is most surely a hard experience, but I can only smile hoping some of those tears are a tribute to a good man. Even I sometimes shed a tear for my grandfathers, but it is one of joy, in which I think of one of his many good moments and qualities. I hope you can do the same.

My mother had breast cancer last year, as most of you know. She battled that and won. However, just today she told me that she has found yet another lump. She only just had her third round of tumours removed. It seems it just won't leave her alone. Now we wait and see... again.

Believe me, I'm not strong. I'm rather numb right now, cushioned by the fact that I wasn't having to watch him fade day in and day out. Last time I saw him was... well, last Thanksgiving, I think.
